Olympic Gold Medalist Rowdy Gaines Endorses Hammer Head® Swim Caps

Hammer Head Swim Caps Called a “Game Changer” for all Swimmers

Hammer Head Swim Caps to continue to make a major splash at the highest levels of the national and international swim community. This revolutionary new multi-purpose swim cap received the official endorsement of swimming legend Rowdy Gaines. If you’re not familiar with Rowdy, he’s been NBC’s lead analyst and “Voice of Swimming'' for seven Olympic games over three decades. So he’s pretty much seen it all, and knows a great idea when he sees it.

Rowdy’s one of the all time great swimmers. Three Olympic Gold Medals, 22 time NCAA All American, 10-time NSS Individual Champion and an inductee in the International Swimming Hall of Fame and Masters Hall of Fame among many many accolades. Team Hammer Head is thrilled to have his vote of confidence.

Gains says “I am so incredibly excited to partner with Hammer Head and the mission to improve head safety. I have spent my whole life working to educate athletes and families on the importance of staying safe in, and around, water. As much as we love seeing our children and young athletes enjoy recreational or competitive swimming, it’s critical that we all understand the risks of head injuries and concussion are just as great as they are in other sports. Swimming is a contact sport. And we need to protect swimmers. It’s just that simple.”

“The Hammer Head Swim cap is nothing short of a game changer for all swimmers. We will soon all look back incredulously that athletes ever swam without head protection of this kind.”

Rowdy Gaines, Olympic Gold Medalist, International Swimming Hall of Famer

In his fourth year as head coach at Oklahoma Christian University, Davis is thriving and continues to grow this winning men’s and women’s programs.

Josh manages the BREAKOUT Swim Clinic and works closely with each client to ensure everyone has the experience of a lifetime. In the swim clinic business since 1995, he has a keen awareness of how to tailor clinics to meet clubs’ needs and exceed their expectations. Davis says “I am living proof that with hard work and perseverance, dreams do come true. Our BREAKOUT team and clinicians have been building champions in-and-out of the water for decades. Safety is of the utmost importance to our sport–emotional, mental and physical. We are excited to align with partners who value the same thing and for this, BREAKOUT with Hammer Head safety swim caps is the perfect fit.”

Theresa Finn, Co-Founder, and CEO of Hammer Head say “Davis’ genuine and engaging character is respected across the competitive swimming world. It is no wonder his clinics are pre-booked and an annual tradition for so many world-class coaches and teams. And now he has gotten behind Hammer Head to educate swimmers at his clinics about its safety and competitive advantages.”

David Burns, Co-Founder, and COO of Hammer Head Swim Caps says “Our mission is to give aquatic athletes, of all ages and skill levels, a cap designed to reduce the chance impact of accidental and repetitive head injuries in the pool, that is designed for comfort and is made of tear-resistant, premium silicone – designed to outlast other caps. We are thrilled to have someone like Davis and BREAKOUT Swim Clinic share our mission.”

Davis is known to make social posts declaring his support calling Hammer Head “the safest, fastest, most comfortable and most durable swim cap in the world. No swimmer plans on collisions resulting in head strikes, but it happens all the time. My BREAKOUT clinics will have the best interest of the swimmers in mind being protected by Hammer Head Swim Caps.”

Richard Franklin, father to Olympic Gold Medalist Missy Franklin and Chairman of the Hammer Head Swim Caps Advisory Board, continues to emphasize that “full blown concussions are not an everyday occurrence, but it’s the recurring day to day head strikes with walls, elbows, feet and other swimmer’s heads above and below the water that can have a cumulative effect on the developing brain.”

Abbie Fish and Swim-Like-A-Fish Endorse Hammer Head Swim Caps

Abbie has endorsed the Hammer Head because she believes swimmers should have the same head protection as other competitive athletes to achieve their very best results.

Abbie Fish, founder of Swim Like A. Fish is a former US Olympic Trial qualifier, UGA NCAA swimmer, and Expert Technique coach at The Race Club, Nashville Aquatic Club and Swim Like A.Fish.

Abbie works virtually with swimmers and coaches are all around the world to help them make better informed decisions regarding their swimming technique. Fish states “Starting Swim Like A. Fish allowed me to channel my love for video analysis and stroke technique to help swimmers compete at their highest level. With this, it means each swimmer is really pushing their limits physically, taking risks, and training at a very intense rate. There’s no doubt that head position in the water is crucial — the faster you get. That’s why it’s 100% necessary that my swimmer’s have the confidence that if they put their head down in the pool (where they need to) — they will be safe all the way through the finish.”

Theresa Finn, Co-Founder, and CEO of Hammer Head says “Abbie has earned the respect and large client base in the performance swimming community. She has also connected the dots, calling out the need for head protection for the most elite swimmers as they push their limits every day!”

Fish adds “In addition to being safer, Hammer Head helps my client’s racing performance. Whether it’s actually putting numbers to the science, or the feel behind the cap — swimmers can tell when putting the Hammer Head cap on (just like a dome cap), they are faster.”

“My client’s safety is critical and the added head protection of the Hammer Head Swim Cap helps my swimmers do what it takes!”

Atlanta Swimming Association is now partnered with Hammer Head Swim Caps

Atlanta Swimming Association (ASA) is introducing Hammer Head Swim Caps to its member teams for the 2020 season and beyond because of the revolutionary benefits it brings to swimmers at all levels.

ASA is comprised of over 120 neighborhood swim teams across five metro Atlanta counties, making the league one of the largest Summer League Swimming programs in the country.

ASA League Coordinator, Franke Marsden says, “Summer League Swimming is all about community, water safety and fun.  Too often water safety is focused on learning to swim, but not providing protection for ongoing safety.  Hammer Head has developed an incredible product that increases safety during practice, meet warm-ups and during races.”

Co-Founders of Hammer Head, David Burns and Theresa Finn share that “We are proud to partner up with this amazing group that puts their swimmer’s well-being first. Millions of youth swimmers participate in the great tradition of Summer Swimming Leagues every year. We would like parents to embrace this new technology to give their swimmers the best advantage in safety, speed, and comfort.”

Mark Nedza of SummerLeagueSwimming.com says, “A summer league team may have 300+ swimmers on a team, often with 10+ per lane for warm up or practices.  Watching a single practice or meet warm up shows just how easy it is for a swimmer to take contact from another swimmer, wall or lane rope.  Hammer Head brings safety to the forefront without compromising on the swimmer’s experience.”

“ASA is excited to introduce Hammer Head, with multiple colors, sizes and the ability to custom print on the caps, Hammer Head has developed solutions for individual swimmers and entire teams!” says Tim Storsteen, ASA Swim Coach.

“Summer League Swimming is all about community, water safety and fun.  Too often water safety is focused on learning to swim, but not providing protection for ongoing safety.  Hammer Head has developed an incredible product that increases safety during practice, meet warm-ups and during races.”

USA Artistic Swimming endorses Hammer Head Swim Caps

USA Artistic Swimming endorsed Hammer Head Swim Caps as a first step in their movement to make their athletes safer in the water. Long practices, tight formations, strong athletes and acrobatics above and below the water all contribute to the risk for head injuries.

Adam Andrasko, CEO of USA Artistic Swimming has formulated his short list of priorities saying “as USA Artistic Swimming improves our overall athlete safety policies, head safety will be a primary focus. Hammer Head has committed to helping us with awareness and education and provides a product that reduces the chance of athletes suffering a concussion. Athlete safety is a top priority of USA Artistic Swimming and partnering with companies like Hammer Head demonstrates how serious we are about it.”

Theresa Finn, Co-Founder and CEO of Hammer Head Swim Caps says “Our mission is to give aquatic athletes, of all ages and skill levels, a cap designed to reduce the chance of accidental and repetitive injuries in the pool, that is designed for comfort and is made of tear-resistant, premium silicone – designed to outlast other caps.”

“We are extremely excited that Adam and his leadership team have named Hammer Head the official swim cap of USA Artistic Swimming. As a coach myself and from my perspective, one head injury is one too many.” says David Burns, Co-Founder and COO of Hammer Head Swim Caps.

Andrasko adds “concussions are an issue in nearly every sport. It is an unfortunate reality, but a reality that we need to be aware of, informed on and using equipment that can protect our athletes.” Hammer Head Swim Caps reduces the possibility of suffering a concussion so we owe our athletes and their parents the opportunity to learn about and purchase this equipment.”

“Athlete safety is a top priority of USA Artistic Swimming and partnering with companies like Hammer Head demonstrates how serious we are about it.”

Hammer Head Swim Caps partners with Hope Floats Foundation to Save Children

Hammer Head Swim Caps gives back to help children in poverty learn to swim.

Hammer Head Swim Caps and Hope Floats Foundation have partnered to take a proactive approach to make swimmers safer in the water. For each Hammer Head Swim Cap purchased, a donation will be made to Hope Floats Foundation to provide swimming lessons for children living in poverty. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children under 5 and the second leading cause of accidental death for children 14 and under. Statistics show that low-income children and children of color are at a higher risk of drowning.

Hope Floats empowers local communities with the tools to launch and sustain local swim lessons scholarship programs for children in poverty. 100% of local funds raised stay local and work to prevent drownings by teaching children in need how to swim and save their own lives. “It really does make a difference. Studies from the National Institutes of Health tell us that participation in formal swim lessons result in an 88% reduction in the risk of drowning for children” says Cindy Tonnesen, Founder and President of Hope Floats Foundation.

As the world’s only protective swim cap®, Hammer Head shares Hope Floats’ proactive approach to safety in the water. Hammer Head’s patented technology is designed to reduce the impact of  head injuries that can occur from accidental and repetitive head strikes while learning their strokes and eventually, competing. Donations from Hammer Head Swim Caps will match local fundraising and community donations to provide double the impact – double the number of scholarships for local kids in need.

David Burns, Co-Founder and COO of Hammer Head said, “Hammer Head, by protecting their heads, and Hope Floats, by giving children in poverty access to swim lessons that they otherwise would not have had – a great 1-2 punch.”

“The equation is simple, more caps purchased = more children saved! And, this model gives every parent the opportunity to protect their child’s head while also contributing to saving the lives of kids in need!! We knew right away that Hope Floats shared our degree of passion for proactive safety measures in the water. We can’t help but feel twice as good working as a team” says Theresa Finn, Co-Founder and CEO of Hammer Head Swim Caps.

ASCA Endorses Hammer Head Swim Caps

Hammer Head Swim Caps First to Provide Proprietary Head Protection for Swimmers

Here’s some ground breaking news for swimmers, coaches and athlete parents too – ASCA is proud to announce our endorsement of Hammer Head Swim Caps. If you or your team haven’t had a chance to try one for yourself yet, this innovative new cap design is the only swim cap to provide athletes with head protection when collisions occur in the water.

Our partnership and official endorsement of Hammer Head Swim Caps comes as the sport of swimming and others around the world are turning more attention to head protection solutions for athletes. Findings show that athletes from football to hockey, lacrosse and beyond, can experience serious health issues later in life caused by the results of cumulative bumps and knocks to the head during their careers.

“Once in a great while a ground-breaking new product comes along that is such an intuitive and obvious benefit to athletes that it’s impossible to say it’s anything other than a real winner. That’s definitely the case with the Hammer Head Swim Cap. Each cap provides protection for any athlete who wears it, making swimmers more confident, which helps them to perform better and have more fun.”
