Theresa is mom to a 20-year old DII competitive swimmer and wife to a swim Official for NFHS and USA Swimming. Her son experienced a severe head injury in 2017 which passionately drives her to make a difference by improving head safety standards in swimming and all aquatic sports with the Hammer Head, the world’s first protective swim cap®.
Theresa oversees business operations with experience in product design, domestic and overseas manufacturing, inventory management, finance and C-level relationship management. Theresa brings years of sales in software, data analytics and brand management for Fortune 150 companies and nimble start ups. All of which helped prepare her to lead Hammer Head Swim Caps.
She is a graduate of San Diego State University with a B.S. in Business Administration/Marketing and in 2017 she completed advanced studies in Entrepreneurship at the University of St. Thomas.

David Burns
David Burns is a successful business entrepreneur, experienced swim coach and committed advocate for swimmer safety in and out of the pool.
In 1999, along with his mother Martha Burns, they launched Martha Burns Swim Schools®, today a $5 Million business and one of Minnesota’s pre-eminent swim school networks for young children and developing swimmers. David the president of the Martha Burns Swim Schools has worked all aspects of the business from the ground up. He’s taught tens of thousands of swimmers and has seen it all. In the water from the age of five, David is a lifelong fan of swimming and was ranked top 5 by the age of 8 in the state of Minnesota.
Through his passion for teaching swimming and experience working with kids it was natural for him to come up with the idea of a protective swim cap. At Hammer Head David brings 25 years of business experience at every level and a deep understanding of both the rewards and risks of swimming to the task of Hammer Head product development and innovation.
